What beautiful trails, trees, and new Swara branded treats we had this past Saturday at KEFRI! It was a beautiful run, with gentle hills, cool weather, and excellent marking, I hope you’ll all agree. We had the Swara photographers out in full force, so you can check out the photo highlights in the Starting Line. We also had the new Swara singlets – white for men, and pink for ladies (or whichever you choose, no rules apply 😉 ) There are very few left, so be sure to snap one up at this Saturday’s run if you’ve not yet! This week’s run – Bavaria Gardens, Westlands
This week we’re running from Bavaria Gardens, in Westlands. This will be a town run, so a good chance to practice some speed and some tarmac running, especially after last week’s trail run. Variety, for the Swaras, is the spice of running life! Be sure to register and not miss out on this run. And as always, do not litter. Ever 🙂 The final remaining jackets and singlets will be available for purchase, in limited sizeds- first come first served! Distances of 10, 15, 20, and 25km will be available, with the majority on tarmac! Always be cautious of traffic, and look out for your own safety, and the safety of your fellow runners. Fluorspar
This month’s big out of town run is Fluorspar: Rite of Passage Run.
You haven’t made it to the recreational runners’ list in Kenya if you haven’t done the legendary Fluorspar Run. Dubbed the ‘runner’s rite of passage run’, it is staged from Sego Resort (altitude 1250 m) and takes you on a most scenic route that ends up at Nyaru (altitude 2,750 m) – elevation gain of approx 1,500 m! Date: 26 August, 2023 Distances: 21, 35 & 43Km Venue: Sego Safari Lodge Contact for reservations: Abraham +254 724 521537. Negotiated BB rates/night : • Single room = 2,500 pp • Double room = 3,200 for two Group transport @3K pp return; hired Coaster departs 10am Friday from Hurlingham Shell Service Station, return on Sunday 10am. Mt Kenya Ultra
As you may have heard on the running grapevine, the Mount Kenya Ultra Marathon (Mountain to Mountain) is coming in just over one month, which will come sooner than we think! Registration is now open, and this year it will be BIG! We are partnering with Nyeri County, and have got interest from running clubs outside of Kenya, and from many recreational runners.
